Project Description

Strengthening academic exchange and collaboration through mobility programs for students, lecturers, and administrative staff between CUR and partner universities across Europe.

The Erasmus+ KA171 mobility project enhances educational quality through international exchange programs between the Catholic University of Rwanda and partner universities across Europe. This comprehensive initiative facilitates academic mobility for students, faculty, and administrative staff.

The program provides opportunities for cultural exchange, academic development, and professional growth through carefully structured mobility experiences. Participants gain international exposure, develop intercultural competencies, and contribute to the internationalization of their home institutions.

The project includes pre-departure preparation, ongoing support during mobility periods, and post-mobility integration activities to ensure maximum benefit for all participants and participating institutions.

University of Parma

The Catholic University of Rwanda (CUR) continues to strengthen its position as a globally connected institution through active participation in international academic networks. From 2 to 12 June 2026, Fr. Dr. Laurent Ntaganda, Vice Chancellor of CUR, and Dr. Théogène Hashakimana, Dean of the Faculty of Education and Coordinator of Planning and Cooperation, visited the University of Parma, Italy, within the framework of the Erasmus+ KA171 project.

A key highlight of the visit was participation in the international conference “Psychology Beyond Borders,” a prestigious platform bringing together universities, researchers, and specialized centres dedicated to advancing mental health, inclusion, and psychological well-being worldwide. Through this network, CUR contributes its expertise through the Neurodivergence Centre, which supports children with diverse cognitive and behavioural profiles, promoting inclusive education and equal opportunities for learning.

The visit reinforced the strategic partnership between CUR and the University of Parma, creating new opportunities for collaborative research, academic exchange, staff development, and student mobility. By engaging with leading international experts, CUR continues to enrich its teaching and research environment while ensuring that its programmes remain aligned with global standards and emerging educational needs.

CUR students are among the direct beneficiaries of these partnerships. During the visit, the Vice Chancellor met four CUR students who are currently undertaking a three-month internship at the Ospedale Maggiore (Main Hospital) in Parma, where they are gaining valuable clinical exposure, professional competencies, and intercultural experience in a highly specialized healthcare environment.

This collaboration demonstrates CUR’s commitment to excellence, innovation, and internationalization while delivering tangible benefits to communities through improved educational services, inclusive practices, and impactful research. As CUR continues to build strong global partnerships, it remains dedicated to shaping competent professionals and transformative leaders for Rwanda and beyond.
