Finnish university partnership for health sciences and emergency care
Academic cooperation, emergency care, health promotion, and health education
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between LAB University of Applied Sciences (LAB) and the Catholic University of Rwanda (CUR) establishes a framework to foster academic cooperation and mutual engagement. Its primary objective is to encourage collaborative initiatives, dialogue, and joint activities that benefit both institutions while remaining non-binding and exploratory in nature.
Key activities under this MoU include joint research and development projects, particularly in emergency care, health promotion, and health education. It also promotes staff and student exchanges, enabling cross-cultural learning, capacity building, and professional development. The parties plan to collaborate on the progression and joint development of academic programs such as Nursing, Public Health Nursing, and Emergency Care (Paramedic). Participation in funded projects like Redefining Emergency Medical Services for the Republic of Rwanda is also envisioned. Furthermore, the MoU encourages co-organization of conferences, workshops, and other academic or scholarly events, alongside any additional collaborative initiatives deemed beneficial.
LAB benefits from strengthened engagement with African higher education and research networks, while CUR gains access to international expertise, program development support, and opportunities for staff and student enrichment. Overall, the MoU facilitates knowledge exchange, capacity building, and sustainable collaboration, enhancing the academic and professional impact of both universities.
