CUR STRENGTHENS GLOBAL TIES WITH THE CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY OF AMERICA (Washington, D.C.)

On September 11, 2025, a landmark meeting was held in Washington, D.C., between Cardinal Antoine Kambanda, the team from the Embassy led by DCM Arthur & Charles, and Dr. Peter K. Kilpatrick, President of the Catholic University of America (CUA). The purpose of this meeting was to revive discussions on a strategic academic partnership between the Catholic University of America and the Catholic University of Rwanda (CUR).

This partnership marks a significant step forward in CUR’s mission to provide world-class education that responds to national and global challenges. The collaboration will initially focus on the launch of online programs in Master of Nursing and Social Work Sciences (master’s and PhD), providing Rwandan students and professionals with direct access to high-quality academic pathways from the U.S. The partnership also includes scholarships in Theology and ICT, a prestigious JSD Scholarship, and access to CUA’s extensive E-Library resources, opening the door to cutting-edge research and knowledge.

For the way forward, Dr. Kilpatrick reaffirmed CUA’s commitment by engaging directly with H.E. Ambassador Mathilde Mukantabana and her team to explore and implement various avenues of collaboration.

Through this meeting, CUR reaffirms its vision of becoming a leading institution in Africa that connects local talent with global expertise. By partnering with one of the most respected Catholic universities in the United States, CUR is expanding opportunities for its students, lecturers, and researchers, bridging continents, cultures, and innovation.

This collaboration not only strengthens academic excellence but also reinforces CUR’s role in shaping professionals who will contribute to Rwanda’s development and make a global impact.

Catholic University of Rwanda is engaged in building bridges, expanding horizons, and empowering futures.
