The Catholic University of Rwanda (CUR) welcomed eight distinguished lecturers from Nigeria on 31 August 2026 to contribute to teaching and academic activities at the University. Their arrival marks an important step in CUR’s commitment to internationalisation, academic excellence and the strengthening of African academic collaboration.
The presence of these lecturers provides CUR students with an opportunity to learn from experienced academics from another African higher-education context. Through their teaching, students can benefit from new perspectives, diverse academic approaches, enriched classroom discussions and additional expertise in their respective fields. This academic engagement also contributes to students’ intellectual development, intercultural competence and preparation for an increasingly interconnected labor market.
CUR WELCOMES EIGHT LECTURERS FROM NIGERIA TO STRENGTHEN TEACHING AND ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE
For CUR lecturers, working alongside their Nigerian colleagues creates opportunities for professional exchange, collaborative research, joint publications, knowledge sharing, curriculum development and the exchange of innovative teaching practices. Their engagement can also strengthen professional networks and create possibilities for future academic mobility, conferences and institutional collaboration.
The wider CUR community can also benefit from the lecturers’ expertise through academic discussions, research collaboration, seminars, public engagement and knowledge transfer. Their contribution can help connect academic knowledge with practical challenges in areas such as education, health, technology, social development and other fields of national and regional importance.
The arrival of eight lecturers from Nigeria therefore represents more than an international academic exchange. It is a concrete contribution to teaching and learning at CUR, strengthening the University’s role as a hub of African academic collaboration and connecting international expertise with local impact.
Through this engagement, CUR continues to advance its commitment to providing students with high-quality education, strengthening its academic staff and building meaningful international partnerships that contribute to Rwanda’s sustainable development.
