HUMAN NUTRITION STUDENTS IN PRACTICE – EXCELLENCE IN CUR LABORATORIES

In the modern laboratories of the Catholic University of Rwanda, Human Nutrition students learn by doing - an essential pillar of the University’s vision to strengthen health sciences in Rwanda. Guided by experienced lecturers and health professionals, students analyze food composition, test hygiene and safety standards, design balanced meal plans, and assess nutritional needs within the Rwandan and regional context.

The objectives of these practical sessions are to connect scientific theory with real community challenges, build strong laboratory and research competencies, and prepare professionals capable of addressing malnutrition, diet-related diseases, and food insecurity. Students acquire expertise in data analysis, food quality control, community nutrition assessment, and evidence-based intervention planning.

The outcomes are concrete. Graduates leave CUR with solid technical knowledge, professional confidence, and readiness to serve in hospitals, schools, NGOs, cooperatives, and public-health programs. Through outreach activities and applied projects, they educate families, support CUR’s modern agriculture initiatives, and promote healthy and sustainable nutrition practices.

At CUR, Human Nutrition training forms competent professionals and compassionate leaders committed to improving community health and contributing to Rwanda’s sustainable development.
