Faculty Description

The Faculty of Social Work at our university is dedicated to preparing students for impactful careers in the field of social work. The faculty consists of two dynamic departments: the Department of Social Welfare and Social Development, and the Department of Child and Family Studies. Together, they offer comprehensive programs that equip students with the knowledge, skills, and compassion necessary to address social issues and improve the well-being of individuals, families, and communities.


The Department of Social Welfare and Social Development focuses on understanding and addressing the multifaceted challenges faced by vulnerable populations. Students in this department explore social policies, social justice, community development, and intervention strategies aimed at promoting social change and enhancing the quality of life for marginalized individuals and communities. Graduates from this department can pursue careers as social workers, community organizers, policy analysts, program managers, or researchers. They work in diverse settings such as social service agencies, non-profit organizations, government departments, and advocacy groups.


The Department of Child and Family Studies focuses on the unique needs and dynamics of children, families, and the systems that support them. Students in this department gain a deep understanding of child development, family dynamics, and evidence-based interventions. They learn to assess and address issues such as child welfare, family violence, parenting, and child and adolescent mental health. Graduates from this department can pursue careers as child and family social workers, family support workers, child advocates, counselors, or researchers. They work in settings such as child welfare agencies, schools, mental health centers, family service organizations, and government departments.


Both departments within the Faculty of Social Work emphasize the integration of theoretical knowledge with practical experience. Students have opportunities for field placements, where they work under the guidance of experienced professionals, apply their skills, and make a positive impact in real-world settings.
